Interview with The Granola Bar

THE GRANOLA BAR

Walking into a home-like setting, I was greeted with all smiles. This is The Granola Bar of Westport. I sat in a comfy seat and excitedly ordered their Avocado Toast. Now, Nicole Muto, The Granola Bar’s Marketing Manager, will tell you I have been counting the days to try this dish. Anthony, my waiter didn’t seem to mind me taking pictures of my toast and posting it to Instagram. Yum!

Nicole told me the story of how The Granola Bar all began – and how two moms pioneered the healthy eating industry in the area. Starting in 2013, founders and moms Julie and Dana wanted a healthier option for their families. Brainstorming in their kitchen, they developed recipes that consisted of oats and granola that are health-conscious and delicious! Knowing these two were onto something, they quickly marketed their product to their local markets. With the expanding positive feedback, the new entrepreneurs decided to open a location to serve the community.

The Westport location became such a success, that shortly after, Julie and Dana opened locations in Greenwich, Stamford, and most recently Armonk. The duo are very hands on and have always been part of the process. With their success in the virtual world, The Granola Bar has introduced Online Ordering on their website, and also an app through the Apple and GooglePlay stores. With the app, you’ll be able to order your favorite food to-go, use credit cards on file, and even tip your server. Great news for me, as I’ll be ordering much more Avocado Toast.

Nicole started her career in the Greenwich location, after finding about them through Instagram. I mean, have you seen their delicious food pics?! She values Julie and Dana both as mentors and their work ethic. “It’s been so amazing to see them grow,” said Nicole, “and being able to work with them hands-on.”

She says that one of the reasons The Granola Bar has been so successful is due to their positive vibes and value of each other opinions. “The difference is you can feel comfortable in a friendly and casual atmosphere.” Nicole is happy to have found her niche in the industry since coming out of college and values every moment. Her advice to anyone in the work industry is, “Take every job you can. Stick with anything you care about.”

She says that the response with Gold Coast Connect has been great. People casually recognize the name and stop in for a bite. The Granola Bar will debut a food truck in the fall, which will be at the Greenwich Food & Wine Festival. Their 5th location in Rye, NY will be opening soon.

You can visit The Granola Bar at anyone of their 4 locations throughout the area, or savor over their amazing menu at www.thegranolabarct.com.
